Moving house when you live an alternative lifestyle

You guessed it! I’ve moved house. Well, apartment actually.

I’d been living in a converted unit under the owners for the last seven years and after multiple backed up toilets, leaky taps, lack of privacy and bin wars (don’t get me started) it was time to move.

But. Sydney being Sydney, finding another rental was neigh impossible and after my seventh rejection – I mean, who wouldn’t want me, a middle aged woman with her own business and no pets – I was feeling a bit flat (no pun intended).

That’s when my mother called and she could see the funk I was in and asked, like anyone who doesn’t live in Sydney would, “why don’t you just buy a place?” When I explained the price of property in Australia and the amount I’d need as a deposit she understood my predicament.

Fast forward three months and all the details, thanks to my mother’s generosity I have been able to buy a small unit close to work!

This is something I never thought I’d be able to do and the security it has given me is immense.

I’ve been here for four weeks and I’ve started the rounds of getting tradesmen in to quote for various things like a new wardrobe – the woman who came to measure very tactfully said “I’ve never seen anything quite like this”. I’m sure there were other phrases running around her head! And a new kitchen – my cupboards will be blue! New blinds – they come on Thursday to measure.

Besides all the physical things, when you live an alternative lifestyle and move house you look at the energetic aspect of everything as well.

To me that means working out the Feng Shui of the bedroom, in particular. Making sure there’s no energy leaking out because the bed is directly under the window, or facing the wrong direction. And making sure there’s no clutter, no stacks of papers or photographs or anything “noisy”.

Placing my crystals in just the right spot and bringing in some plants.

And of course lots of smudging with sage and using my energy sprays as I unpack and move things around to help clear out the old energy and help my energy land into the space.

And yet, even with doing all the things, I’ve not been sleeping well. In fact, the first three weeks were the worst I’ve ever had. The last week has been much better, but still not great.

I’ve been to see my lovely homeopathic friends next door at work who’ve given me some Aresincum, the remedy for those who wake between midnight and 1am (that’s me). I’ve done a gall bladder protocol with my light patches – because in Chinese medicine that’s the organ at play at that hour. My bedtime routine is slick – same time to bed and wake up, special sleep teas before bed, finishing eating early so not going to bed on a full stomach – you know the drill.

And I’ve started eating a kiwi before bed after a client told me that was a sure-fire solution.

And yesterday, I had a reading with the creator of some EMF balancing products I’ve used for years. I have an EMF harmoniser plugged in at home and at work and various other products at play but he does readings on the area around the dwelling as well as on things like mould and energetic disturbances.

On an EMF level everything was hunky dory because I have all my harmonisers in situ. But. There’s always a but. He said there is some airborne mould in the unit and I have taken some of it into my body. Darn it!

The solution?

An air purifier and a dehumidifier.

I had an air purifier at work and have brought that home and set it up today.

Tomorrow I’ll start patching with the mould protocol.

Next week I’ll have a new wardrobe. And hopefully within the next couple weeks there’ll be new blinds. And a new kitchen within the next two months.

These were all the things he asked me questions about and I had already taken action to have them pulled out and updated.

Once they’re all done I know I’ll feel like I’ve finally settled.

So, when you live an alternative lifestyle, moving isn’t just “moving”. It’s making sure the physical as well as the energetic is all balanced.
